How to Fix Windows Cannot be Installed to this Disk the Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style
I was trying to install window 7 on a laptop and I received this error massage(Pictured above), I tried formatting the disk and the same error showed and the next button was not selected so I could not move forward. So i had to go find solution for this problem, I know most persons might be facing this issue. Today we will fix this problem.
First, let me tell you what actually happens when you reinstall Windows on any PC. New versions of Windows OS use the latest partitioning scheme called GPT (GUID Partition Table, defined by Unified Extensible Firmware Interface ‘UEFI’) instead of old Master Boot Record’s own partitioning scheme to have unlimited partition table which can be grown in size, have self healing capability. It also make use of backup partition for better data redundancy and integrity.
So Here is the steps to Fix Windows Cannot be Installed to this Disk the Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style:
Step 1: When Installing the new Operating System and such error comes up, just close the installation window and return to the picture below.
Step 2: Press Function + Shift +F10 (the cmd box will come out)
Step 3: Type Diskpart and hit enter button
Step 4: Type List Disk and hit enter again
Step 5: Type Select disk X, where X is the desired you wish to install the windows 7
Step 6: Type Clean, this will erase all the data in the selected disk.
Now continue your installation and face a trouble free installation and enjoy your new OS.
Caution: If you have any important file, you're advice to backup first before doing this as it will delete every file in the selected this.
